Welcome to the first edition of “The Goodbee Connection”, our quarterly e-newsletter meant to keep our clients and friends in the know on what’s happening at Goodbee & Associates. We promise to keep it short and sweet, hopefully entertaining as well as informative, with a dose of fun and cheesy “utility humor” as necessary. We are pleased to include “a Day in the Life of Goodbee”, our first video clip of the quarter, giving you a taste of what we actually do around here! This month focuses on Brandy Sloan providing field oversight of utility construction currently on-going at 120th Avenue in Broomfield. If you like bulldozers and women in hardhats you’ll love it! We also have several new jobs to announce, an interesting profile on a recently completed project in Nevada, and Goodbee Habitat for Humanity updates.  Thanks for your continued support and interest in Goodbee & Associates!

A Day in the Life of a Goodbee Associate

Spend a day with Brandy Sloan, Utilities Field Project Manager for Goodbee! Follow Brandy on the CDOT/City of Broomfield 120th Avenue Connection Design-Build project and discover the magical world of utilities coordination. Goodbee & Associates is working with Edward Kraemer & Sons and HNTB on this exciting local project providing utility coordination during the design and construction for the 120th Avenue Connection Design-Build Project for CDOT. The Design-Build Project has an aggressive project schedule and includes tasks such as wet utility design (water and sanitary), wet and dry utility coordination for all utilities potentially affected by the project, extensive coordination regarding potential drainage impacts as they relate to utilities, schedule coordination and cost responsibilities/agreement coordination for the interchange Design-Build project. Habitat for Humanity Build Day is April 30, 2010

Habitat for Humanity has a gigantic project underway: the Bails Project at I-25 and Colorado Blvd., where 24 townhomes are being constructed through the 2010 Fall season. It is an amazing opportunity, and the site will need upwards of 200 volunteers daily to keep things going! Goodbee & Associates will be sponsoring Build Days in 2010 - the first one is scheduled for April 30th - and we ask that our friends and clients please consider doing the same as a way of ‘paying it forward’. In addition to representing our industry, volunteering for Habitat is a great team building activity and, most importantly, a wonderful way to give back to the community. To learn more about Adopt-a-Day and Adopt-a-Week opportunities, please contact Lisa Goodbee at lisa@goodbeeassoc.com

I-15 Project Finishes 10 Months Ahead of Schedule

Goodbee & Associates served as a subconsultant to North Corridor Constructors, a joint venture of contractors Las Vegas Paving and CH2M Hill, on the $240 million Nevada DOT Design-Build project to widen I-15 from the Spaghetti Bowl to Craig Road. The project, slated for a finish date of Fall 2010, made headlines when it was completed 10 months ahead of schedule! Laura Baxter, Senior Utility Coordinator and Scheduler for Goodbee, led the team in providing utility coordination services for the project including dry and wet utility relocations, construction sequencing and scheduling, utility agreements, subcontractor contract monitoring, and change order management.

In addition to the early completion, the I-15 venture holds the distinction of being the first Design-Build project in the state. The team attributes the great success of the project to a streamlined Design-Build process, constant and open communication with Nevada DOT, and very cooperative motorists.
